Ashley Montgomery is a native of Prince George’s County. He graduated from Bowie State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Accounting. Ashley grew up loving sports, being the younger brother of an active athlete and the son of a successful high school basketball coach.
Throughout his childhood, Ashley loved football but experienced adversity in his household. After much persistence, him mother took him up to the local Bowie Boys and Girls Club to connect him with Coach Sonny Kimball. It was this relationship that became the most impactful in Ashley's life. It was Sonny who would pick Ashley up for practice over the next three years to assist his single mom.
The consistent sacrifice of Coach Sonny is what laid the groundwork and provided the spirit with which Mentoring Through Athletics was founded: The commitment to serving student-athletes by showing up as more than a coach but as a mentor, too. Since the inception of the organization, Ashley has desired to impact lives on and off the field of athletic play, and he inspires each of his mentor coaches to do the same.
