Mentoring Through Athletics is a 501c3 non-profit organization that utilizes organized athletics and team-building activities to help youth in low- and middle-income communities develop confidence and positive self-esteem.
Through our myriad programs and athletic leagues, we not only teach children a full range of life skills, we bring families together and foster community pride.
We know that the keys to success in later life are the character and habits developed early in life, and our programs help youth develop:
* The Discipline to practice and set aside the time for developing positive habits;
* The Accountability to be there for your teammates; to show up for your commitments;
* The Responsibility to do your part so the team can succeed, and to do so with a team-first mentality;
* The Endurance to stick with your commitments no matter how challenging they may be and to avoid taking the easy way out when it is presented to you.
Each of these traits is critical to the progress of our young people on and off the athletic field of play. Our camps, leagues, and workshops provide opportunities for children to grow and develop their physical, mental, emotional, and social dimensions.
Training is not limited to the athletic field, as we also provide training in the classroom and offer programs throughout the communities where our participants live.
At MTA, our goal is to develop the whole person so they are prepared to succeed in all aspects of their lives.
